This is the first listen of a new AüR prototype.

No comparison. Blind listening.

  • U shaped.
  • Bass boosted. Visceral, but not warm.
  • No magic sauce of TOTL cable.
  • Treble is present and ample.
  • Highly musical.
  • Imaging is average to good. Not the best in class. Neither is it at any time muddy, nor lumpy.
  • Stage is ample. You’re not going to find it very big. Neither is it very closed up.
  • This is a good mid-tier cable.

Switching to the Hermit.

  • I still feel the Midas is the best pairing for the Hermit.
  • The mid-bass boost of this cable and mid-bass scoop of the Hermit makes it lose the special sauce. Not that it sounds bad. It’s just the Midas with the linear presentation and the way it lets in the resolution. The textured bass and sparkle in the highs come through in a highly musical manner.

Ending thoughts.

  • A good mid-tier cable with a specific use. Which is to give it a mid bass. It does the job very well.
  • At a good price, which AüR cables usually are. This is worth owning.
