This is the first listen of a new AüR prototype.

No comparison. Blind listening.

  • Physically thick and a little on the heavy side.
  • Good definition. Clarity is very high.
  • Resolution is coming through.
  • Airy.
  • Leaning slightly to the bright side.
  • Good compromise of dynamics and smoothness.
  • Upper mids (female vocals) sound open and airy.
  • Sub and mid bass are present. But not the emphasis.
  • This will not be a cheap cable.
  • I suspect it’ll be perfect for stuff like classical and opera.
  • Add a bit of diffusion. This will transform.
  • Bass playlist. It doesn’t feel like the low end has been neutered. Instead, the other frequencies join in the party.
  • Female vocals are definitely getting emphasis.
  • Male vocals are neither recessed or boosted.
  • Not suitable for badly mastered music. Brighter cables never are. DSD512 files on the other hand are very good.

This is an upper register leaning cable. The lower registers are present, but not the star of the show. The Result is a high quality cable that is not going to be cheap. Being bright leaning also means some genres are out of the question, others will shine.
