Everything is in comparison to Amp15, unless stated.

AMP12EXN-S OPA1655

Gain LowClean
Gain MediumClean
Gain HighClean
  • More dynamic
  • Cleaner and clearer notes
  • More treble, the mid air render is even more pronounced.
  • A lot more bass
  • Imaging is even precise
  • Clarity is up a notch.

Most notable is the big increase in the entire bass region. Next is the treble, the DX340 type of sparkly treble is now even more enhanced. The overall clarity has improved. Switching back to the Amp15. It sounds like a tad veiled and closed in comparison. It appears right about everything I can hear is a level up from the Amp15.

*My nutube module is loose and rattling in the case.

  • Smoother than Amp15
  • Mids boosted
  • Bass boosted and very authoritative
  • A thicker sound
  • Imaging and treble losses out to Amp12EXN-S. But at least on par if not better.
  • Stage is not as wide as Amp12

I hated the Amp14. On the 320. It was just a subpar experience, bloomy and fuzzing up the notes. Here on the 340. It’s not even the same amp card anymore. This is bonafide C9 level stuff.
