Sonora
Equipment: DX340, stock cable and tips
Bright leaning. Lots of treble. Airy. Upper mids is very good. Can get sharp if played louder. High resolving. Highs rendering is very detailed. Bass is on the lighter side.
Suitable for classical and jazz.
Volta
Equipment: DX340, stock cable and tips
A neutral version. Enough of mid bass. Stage is smaller. Imaging is good. Treble sparkle is present. Upper mids is boosted, but not overly so. Lacking sub bass extension.
The lack of sub bass is the main problem here. At this price point. It shouldn’t be lacking anything.
Switching to EOH3 cable
Much better all round. Imaging improved. Bass quantity has increased. Treble rendering is sparkly. Still a mid bass affair.
Conclusion
Both Sonora and Volta are not to my taste. I can’t find the refinement to justify the cost.

Using the PW cable. Bright Bass is on the mid bass side of things. Relatively airy presentation. A more clinical IEM. Quite fatiguing. A lot of upper register energies.
